Virtual auction attendees are invited to participate in this year’s Oki Foundation Scoutreach Pinewood Derby, taking place on Friday, November 12, 2021. The first heat will occur during the pre-show, between 6:30pm – 7pm. The remaining heats will occur during the auction live-broadcast, beginning at 7pm. Six youth members from the Scoutreach program have designed cars which will compete during the broadcast. Auction attendees have the option of voting on which car they believe will win. Those who have voted for the winning car will be placed into a drawing for a set of Seahawks tickets to the Chicago Bears game scheduled for December 26, 2021.
About the Oki Foundation & Scoutreach:
Auction proceeds help to fund the council’s Scoutreach program, serving over 800 underserved youth in the Puget Sound region. Underserved youth may have limited access to educational and financial resources, making it difficult for them to fully participate in traditional Scouting programs. Scoutreach bridges this gap by bringing Scouting-inspired life-skills education to youth where they are, at partner sites in the region. Chief Seattle Council is grateful for Scott Oki, who founded the Scoutreach program in 2004.
About the Cars:
Each car was designed and painted by members of the Scoutreach program.
How the race will take place:
Multiple heats will be conducted, beginning during the pre-show from 6:30pm-7pm. Each heat will eliminate a car from the running. When there are two cars remaining, the auctioneer will give a two-minute warning before the final race. Once the two-minute timer is up, the final race will take place, producing the winning car. To maximize chances of winning the Seahawks Tickets, we recommend waiting until the race is between two cars. Place all six of your votes/buys on one car, or go with a 50/50 split.
How to enter the drawing:
Auction participants may place up to six votes on which car they believe will win. Votes/buys are accumulative, spread between all cars. Voting is available on the auction website beginning Friday, November 12, 6pm, and ending after the two-minute warning given during the live-broadcast on Friday, November 12th.

Participants are limited to six votes. They may place all six votes on a single car or spread them between cars. Participants may wait until the two-minute warning, when the race is between just two cars to place their votes. Once a car has been eliminated from the race, all votes placed on those cars cannot be transferred to remaining cars. For example, if Jim used two of his votes on the Green Gremlin, and that car is eliminated before the last round, those two votes cannot be transferred to another car.
The Greater Giving website cannot limit the number of votes placed. The six-vote limit will be manually enforced by council staff.
